Numerous processing operations generate fibres, coarse particles and dirt particles that must be reliably removed. The LTG prefilter from the TVM series was developed to meet this need: as an automatic, self-cleaning filter solution for the coarse filtration of heavily contaminated airflows.
What is the prefilter TVM?
The LTG prefilter TVM is an automatic self-cleaning prefilter designed for use in the manufacturing sector across a wide range of industries. It is used to capture fibres and coarse particles early on in the air stream, thereby reducing the load on subsequent filter stages.
This makes the TVM series particularly suitable for processes in which large airflows are contaminated with fibres, dust or coarse particles and reliable pre-filtration is required.
Typical areas of application
The LTG prefilter is primarily used in situations where production processes generate high levels of particulate or fibre contamination. Potential applications include the textile industry, the nonwovens industry, the insulation materials industry, and the paper and wood processing sectors.
How does the LTG TVM prefilter work?
The TVM’s operating principle is straightforward and efficient: the contaminated primary air stream passes through a rotating filter medium. In the process, particles and fibres are trapped on the surface of the filter mesh. The mesh size of the filter medium can be adjusted to suit the specific material to be captured.
During operation, the filter disc continues to rotate continuously. A fixed extraction nozzle continuously cleans the filter medium without coming into contact with it. In this way, the filter surface is continuously regenerated whilst the air flow continues to pass through the system. The separated particles are then conveyed via a secondary circuit and fed into a separator.

Benefits of the LTG TVM pre-filter at a glance
The LTG TVM series of prefilters offers several advantages for industrial process air systems:
- automatic, continuous cleaning of the filter medium
- compact design thanks to the rotating filter disc
- low pressure drop due to optimised flow guidance
- no pressure fluctuations in the extraction system
- adaptable to different materials thanks to various mesh sizes
- low-maintenance operation
- easy access to the drive components on the clean air side
- antistatic and ATEX versions available
This makes the TVM series particularly suitable for processes in which large airflows are contaminated with fibres and coarse particles and reliable pre-filtration is required.

Conclusion: Pre-filtration as a key step in process air technology
In multi-stage filter systems, coarse filtration plays a vital role: it reduces the load on subsequent filter stages, minimises the strain on the entire system and helps to ensure stable process air operation.
The LTG TVM prefilter combines a flow-through mesh with automatic regeneration. This allows fibres and coarse particles to be separated early on in the process without the need for manual cleaning of the filter surface.
